Gift Ideas for Your Supersensitive Friend

No, I don't mean the friend who looks wounded after a sarcastic joke. Or the friend who gets put off if she's not invited to a dinner party. I'm talking about your friend who can never share your face creams or who breaks out at the very sight of a scented body lotion. Buying beauty gifts can be tricky—even trickier if you have a friend with sensitive skin. To keep you (and your friend) in the clear, I rounded up some of our favorite sensitive-skin products that make beautiful gifts.

Le Couvent des Minimes Loving Pouch. The simple formulas and chic packaging are what initially made me fall in love with this French beauty brand, inspired by the traditions of plant-based care practiced at the convent in Mane, France. I'm especially obsessed with the Baume d'Amour Scrub for Dry Skin, a creamy exfoliator that leaves your limbs soft and smooth but is so gentle, you barely feel it scrubbing away. For the holidays, the brand has packaged the scrub along with its Baume d'Amour Lotion for Dry Skin in this adorable drawstring pouch, which can be repurposed for a variety of uses—it's the ol' two-gifts-in-one.

Eau Thermale Avène Cold Cream Nourishing Body Lotion. Ever since I tested this hypoallergenic, paraben-free, heavy-duty moisturizer for last year's Best of Beauty Awards, I've gone through about ten bottles. Even in the dead of winter, it keeps your skin feeling silky, and it does some serious softening work on rough, red patches. And if you're feeling exceptionally generous this holiday season, check out the brand's Antirougers and XeraCalm A.D. lines, too.

Weleda Almond Soothing Face Oil. This all-natural oil won't irritate even the testiest of skin. Case in point: I've been using it on the left side of my face after a bad reaction to an expired face lotion I used at my parents' over Thanksgiving (oops). It's not just good for irritated skin, either. It's extremely potent, leaving your skin hydrated and glowing once it's absorbed (which is rather quickly). Pair it with the Almond Soothing Face Lotion, Cleansing Lotion, and Face Cream for a sensi-skin gift package.

The Honest Company Bath Time Gift Set. Look around the Allure office and you'll see quite a few Honest Company products strewn across editors' desks. I, for one, love the wipes and the Body Oil, not to mention the Healing Balm, while many of the moms in the office swear by the supergentle baby products. The Bath Time Gift Set contains the brand's Shampoo + Body Wash, Face + Body Lotion, Conditioner, Bubble Bath, and Organic Bath Oil. And since all the products are organic and contain ingredients safe enough for infants, they won't stress out sensitive skin. (I also love the Nesting Gift Set, which contains a bunch of the brand's nontoxic household cleaners and organic towels. It's not beauty, but it's so awesomely useful.)
