Here's a real First World problem for ya: the streaks that hand cream leaves across your cell phone. It was a problem that, until several years ago, we as a society didn't know existed. But now, it's something that drives me freakin' nuts. I'm a compulsive hand-cream applier—I apply it about every ten minutes—so that means after every Instagram post or text message, I end up with fingerprints and streaks all over my iPhone screen. Now, for some people, this may not be an issue. But for neat freaks (i.e., insane people) like me, it's a cause of great distress. I'm constantly wiping off my screen with my scarf or my hat, trying to get it back to its previous streak-free-ness. That is, until I discovered Jenna Hipp's dry-finish, all-natural hand cream, which promises to keep my type A tick at bay.
Hipp stopped by the Allure office last week to show me her new spring collection for Costco (keep your eyes out for it when it launches in March; the colors are beautiful). She also happened to bring along her Essential Nail & Hand Creams, which are available individually for $12, or in a set of three for $36. At first, I was intrigued by the fact that they're all-natural. But when Hipp told me they wouldn't leave my iPhone screen a gross, streaky mess, I was so excited that I immediately started slathering the stuff all over my hands. The magic ingredient, according to the product-development team that worked on the formula, is tapioca starch. That sounds like it would be drying, but it actually doesn't lessen the moisturizing effect of the cream at all. The formula is so rich in shea butter and essential oils (like orange and rosemary), it still leaves your skin and cuticles soft and supple. All the tapioca powder does is give your hands a matte, nonslippery finish—and keep your phone as sleek and clean as the day you took it out of the box.
